TEXIA is a Spanish family business created in 1917 and which is revolutionising the manufacture of textiles for the premium hotel, catering and airline sector due to its patented seamless technology, strengthened with the introduction and development of pigmented digital printing in collaboration with Epson.

TEXIA is a worldwide reference in the manufacture of high-quality rolls and seamless cotton textile products thanks to its two own brands: ROLL DRAP and MY DRAP. The company launched them in 1995 and 2010, respectively, to differentiate us from the traditional textile products.

Today they are present in the main restaurants, hotels, airlines, cruisers and luxury catering firms around the world. A product range that has been extended with the acquisition of Athos, focused on the manufacture of high-quality tablecloths and made to measure for restaurants.

With head offices in Monistrol de Montserrat (Barcelona), it exports 80% of its production around the world, employs 90 people and has a branch in Canada that distributes the MY DRAP products all over North America. The fourth generation, led by Marcos Guasch Pubill, has set its sights on leading the transformation of the industrial textile sector towards sustainability through its own technologies (SeamlessTEX and DigitalTEX). To continue optimising them, Texia invests 10% of its income in R+D projects.

THE TEXTILE SECTOR

The emerging Catalan textile industry grows within movements in society: technological changes and political revolutions.

A PAIR OF ENTREPRENEURS

The couple of María Bou and Antonio Guasch set up a small family business of textile finishes in the old industrial district of Poblenou.

1922
MARÍA BOU, WOMAN ENTREPRENEUR

María becomes one of the first entrepreneur women of the time and of the sector after the death of her husband, just five years after marrying and with two small children: Sintu and Monti.

THE SECOND GENERATION TAKE OVER

The eldest son of the couple, Sintu, takes the baton and devotes himself full-time to the company. He takes it forward due to his vocational skills and his innovative character.

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE FACTORY

Sintu speeds up the factory and improves all the manufacturing processes. Innovation is now the main driving force of the company

FROM BARCELONA TO MONISTROL

The factory in Poblenou is too small. After touring half Catalonia, Monistrol is chosen as the most suitable site to place the new factory and for developing new finishes.

THE THIRD GENERATION ARRIVES

Marcos Guasch takes over the company at a decisive moment. Major changes are coming in a sector that had already left behind its age of splendour.

INNOVATION IN TIMES OF CRISIS

With the explosion of Asian production, the big Catalan textile towns close their gates. It is then when Texia decides to create the first seamless textile cloths on a roll in the market, to differentiate it from the rest and this overcome the serious crisis affecting the sector.

Turning point: ROLL DRAP and MY DRAP appear

They begin with ROLL DRAP, the only cotton cloths on a roll for the hotel and catering sector.

2010
MY DRAP

Later appears the MY DRAP brand, the 100% cotton single-use textile napkins on the market, in a roll and seamless.

TEXIA OPENS UP TO THE WORLD

The company expands internationally and exports 80% of its production. Its products reach the most emblematic hotels in the world and they lead the market in countries such as France.

2022
TEXIA COLLABORATES WITH EPSON

The company acquires a Monna Lisa printer to begin to produce fashion by means of digital pigment printing.

2023
TEXIA ACQUIRES ATHOS

In order to broaden its product range, Texia acquires Athos, a company with 30 years’ experience and specialising in the manufacture of high-quality table linen for restaurants.
